WHO THE HELL IS SHE?
For my final major project at the end of my foundation year, I decided to explore the theme of feminism and women's rights. I wanted to create a piece that was unlike work I've created before, and I felt that animation could be an interesting area to explore. My project focuses mainly on the attitudes to women back in the 50's and how they were treated by both society and the media. The message I was trying to send with this project is that women have just as much right as anyone else to live the life they want. It's also to serve as a reminder of what women have fought for over the years to get to where we are.
THE PROCESS
When making the animation, I first took old photos and advertisements sourced online and imported these into photoshop. There I separated the layers and imported the file into after effects. Using after effects I was able to manipulate the images to make them seem as though they were moving and bring the photos to life.
During this project I experimented a lot with collage, which was something I hadn't done a lot before. My theme throughout this project was also heavily inspired by Barbara Kruger, as can be seen by the famous red and white bold text.
VALUES PROJECT
For the values project, I decided to look into self value and how we treat ourselves. One ultimate test of self discipline is New Years Resolutions so I decided to create a humorous booklet based on how hard it is to keep them.
OTHER FOUNDATION WORK
This is some of my other foundation work I completed over the course of the year, mostly from my post news project in which I looked at pollution and responded with mostly hand drawn work rather than digital.
FOUNDATION SKETCHBOOK WORK
These are some pages from my sketchbook from foundation year.
